New Youth Centre Opens in BlythDated: 10/01/2008

December 2007 saw the opening of a new youth training centre. Our new training centre is based in The Blyth Community Enterprise Centre where we can offer a variety of Entry to Employment (e2e) courses for 16-19 year olds to include Construction.

Our first month has already seen 2 young people successfully placed in Employment, an achievement we are extremely proud of.

We have good links for progressions with NTA and are forging links with other providers; developing a presence with local employers via the Blyth Valley Business Forum, the Princes Trust and Blyth Valley Action Team. The Blyth area is undergoing major redevelopment and is quite an exciting place to be, offering a lot of new opportunities that we aim to play a part in through development of young people. This will enable our learners to give something back to the region through their involvement in some of the redevelopment initiatives and finding employment or training.

The centre is run by Mark Dickenson, who himself boasts a wealth of experience in teaching, training and employer engagement. He has also been involved in JobCentre Plus programmes and e2e in a variety of roles throughout the North East.
