Simpler skills system formally comes into effectDated: 06/04/2010

Note from the Geoff Russell, Skills Funding Agency Chief Executive:

Today, we are entering a new era as responsibility for funding and regulating post 19 Further Education and Skills transfers to the Skills Funding Agency.

"Our role is to provide the information, tools and funding to help people and businesses make choices about learning, and to give colleges and training organisations the freedom to provide that learning so that together, we can secure England's economic and social future.

"The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills describes the country's future being built by people who have the skills demanded by modern work in a global economy. We can all sign up to that. I look forward to our endeavours and our success together."
